October12th Aswan to Luxor.

Updated: Jan 5, 2020

Once again the GPS can't get me out of town.. I get the Nile river road through all the small villages. It is slow but near the Nile.. It is fertile - all sorts of crops are grown .They have 100 million people to feed and they rely on this river for everything. I get into Luxor early afternoon.. My WhatsApp isn't working properly so I head to the phone company. They advise me that no WhatsApp messages are allowed in Egypt ..no phone or Video calls.

I try Telegram and can't get that to work either. In the early evening I visit the two major sites here

a) Luxor Temple and b) Temple of Karnuk

Luxor temple, right on the Nile

Temple of Karnuk

This is considered to be the largest religious site in the world. Approximately 230 acres. It was built over many dynasties and only about a quarter is open to the public.. As at most Egyptian sites there is a Light and Sound show in the evenings in many languages. This is the second most visited site in Egypt. After the Pyramids of Giza.

Back to the hotel for a swim and a beer.

Its a nice place.

The use of Lantana as a border is very attractive
