Early Game drive..
Took the river route..very picturesque..Plenty of hippos and crocs ..
The Luangwa river must be a mighty sight when in flood, but in the dry season it still runs
It feeds the Zambezi just above the hydro electric scheme at Cabora Bassa.
Afternoon drive a lot of the normal stuff.
The park is the result of a British conservationist Norman Carr convincing the local Chief (in the 1930's) to give up some of the tribal area as a game reserve.. hunting only with a camera. He also introduced walking safaris ..the first to do so..now done in parks all over Africa.. All proceeds given back to the local community. A man ahead of his time.
